Accessibility

Finding somewhere to live should not depend on how you browse the web.

The standard we build to

We build College Pads to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In practice that means the site should work with a keyboard alone, work with a screen reader, keep text legible against its background, and stay usable when you zoom in or use a small screen.

Our design system is checked against this standard at the component level, and pages are checked again once assembled, because a component that passes in isolation can still fail in context.

Where we know we fall short

Map views are difficult to use without a pointer. Every map on the site has a list view alongside it carrying the same listings, and that list is the accessible route to the same information.

Listing photography, floor plans and virtual tours are supplied by landlords, so the quality of alternative text varies. We are working with listers to improve it.

Report a barrier

If something on this site stops you getting to a listing, tell us through our contact page. Describe the page and what happened, and include the browser or assistive technology you were using if you can. We treat access barriers as faults, not feature requests.
